About us

The Challenor Creative Arts and Training Centre was founded in 1964 by the Barbados Association for Mentally Retarded Children (BAMRC). BAMRC became one of the first non-profit, registered charity organizations, committed to providing services to children and young adults who were mentally challenged in Barbados. Later it was observed that after the young adults left school, there was no place for them to go so the Adult Training Facility was birthed. This was done in order to ensure that young persons with disabilities would acquire skills that will allow them to deal with challenges in the future, and possibly place them in the job market.

It has been our mission to empower young Barbadians with disabilities through training, development and entrepreneurial skills to enable them to increase their participation in the economic development process in Barbados.

The programme is an integrated training programme that caters to young adults between the ages of 18-35 years of age. This skills training programme is offered for an initial two (2) to three (3) years.

Each area aims to provide the students with the necessary knowledge-base and practical skills to enable them to compete successfully in the job market.
